to dairy, many people can handle goats milk just fine It can be

If you have never cooked with acorn squash, don't let it intimidate you its so simple. Cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, cut along the grooves to make slices.<br />
Add to pan, add grapeseed oil, balsalmic vinegar, salt and pepper and roast at 400 for about 40 min. Flip them over after first 20 min.<br />

Although I always think fresh is best. Let's face it beets are so messy and life gets busy, which is why I'm so thankful for the beets Costco now carries. They are already peeled and cooked. It's so easy to cut them up and add them to my salad and Jedi loves them.<br />

I like to mimic the Cheesecake Factory salad with mixed greens, asparagus, walnuts, goat cheese, beets, and chicken with homemade dressing. Easy and delicious. <br />

Beets are high in vitamins and minerals (potassium, magnesium, fiber, iron, vitamins A,B, C, beta-carotene, folic acid).<br />
<br />
Beets <b>purify the blood</b> and beets are a <u>natural liver detoxifier</u>. If you know the function of the liver then you know why this is so good for our bodies. In short, the liver binds up toxins and removes them from our body. If the liver is not functioning properly to be able to do it's job toxins then build up in the body causes disease. <br />

<u>Pregnant? </u><br />
Vitamin B and iron is important for new growth cells, which is another reason why like to eat beets while pregnant.<br />

I highly recommend the Safe Sippy 2. It's an easy way to keep dangerous toxins out of your kids water. We all know the dangers of BPA, so now they make BPA free plastic, which is great, but unfortunately even the BPA free plastics still contain other hazardous chemicals that leech into our water and can disrupt our hormones. <br />

1-2 cups gluten free oatmeal<br />
1 Banana<br />

I'm a huge advocate for feeding kids real food and I often get questions about how to do this, so I will share some of my top breakfast<br />
foods I love for kids.<br />
<br />
<u>Breakfast Favorites</u><br />
<b>Eggs </b>- I always try to get in some type of protein for breakfast and eggs are a good source of fat and protein as well as beneficial for brain development. I look for eggs that are organic, free range and have <u>dark yokes</u> and a <u>hard shell</u> to crack. Some eggs are labeled as healthy, but as soon as I crack it I know it's not all its cracked up to be. Farmer's markets seem to have the best. <br />
<b>Oatmeal</b> - I like the Trader Joe's bag of gluten free oats and I put tons of cinnamon in and some coconut oil<br />
<b>Oatmeal Pancakes</b> - I like these a lot cause they are a lot less mess. In VitaMix - 2 cups water, 2 cups oatmeal, 1-2 bananas, cinnamon, vanilla and blend. I then mix in blueberries or sliced banana and walnuts<br />
<b>Fruit - </b>Bananas, berries, or cantaloup<br />
<b>Kale</b> - I saute it in grass fed butter or coconut oil and mix with the eggs<br />
<b>Fritatta</b>- Saute vegetables (peppers, kale or spinach, broccoli, etc) add in whisked eggs cook on stop top for a few minutes, then put in the oven for about 18 minutes, cut with pizza cutter into slices. Another one I love cause it's way less messy. <br />
<b>Green Smoothie</b>- 1 cup coconut water, 2 handfuls spinach, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen berries, 1 tablespoon Hemp Hearts (I prefer this as a snack, since it doesn't have as much protein but it's a good on the go breakfast to take with us. <br />
<b>Almond Butter Wrap</b>- Ezekiel sprouted tortilla with almond butter folded in half. Also a good one for lunch and sometimes I put fresh berries in the middle for a healthy version of a pb&J.<br />
<br />
Kids are often times sensitive to textures, so if they don't eat a hard boiled egg they may eat it scrambled. If they don't like raw veggies they may eat them cooked. Get creative and never give up on feeding your kids real foods.<br />

I went with my parents who were visiting and my great uncle Orville and his girlfriend Joanne. I always love seeing my uncle Orville. He is 84yr old and has perfect health. He never even ages every time I see him he looks the same. <br />

He inspires me cause he eats healthy, exercises consistently, has fun in his life by dancing up to 3x a week, takes short power naps for 10 min daily, gardens, and can pretty much fix anything. Your probably thinking eww gross about sardines, but if you like tuna they taste pretty much like tuna.<br />
I like the have these on hand because they last forever in my pantry and when it's time to go to the grocery store or I need a quick snack they are easy.<br />
I recommend them because they are so high in Omega 3's and very high in protein and calcium.<br />
Look for wild caught. The only thing is they stink, but the benefits far outweigh the smell.<br />

They also came out with a coconut water powder that you just mix with water. I think it breaks down to a lot less to buy the powder than the cartons, but would need to double check. The ingredients I used are coconut oil, honey, peanut butter (I tried sunflower butter, but it wasn't nearly as good), gluten free rolled oats, chocolate chips, and pumpkin seeds. <br />
<br />
The first time I stirred the chocolate chips in right after I took it off the stove and it really melted the chocolate, the second time I let it cool a little before stirring in the chocolate chips that way they are chucks still.<br />
<br />
<u>Next time</u> I will use more oats, less honey, add flaxseed & maca powder, and replace the chocolate chips with 85% dark chocolate bar instead. <br />
<br />
I also recommend her idea of individually wrapping them up so they are portable and easy to take on the go. <br />

If you are looking for other options for a healthy bar Rise bars are free of Gluten, GMO's, Dairy, Soy, Peanuts and Preservatives. I like that they have some bars for protein, energy, and breakfast. They are similar to Larabars that have few ingredients and mostly have nuts and dried fruit. <br />

I do have to say I was so excited to finally try one at Whole Foods. Luckily the stocker was right near me so I could ask to try it right there, so I could buy more if I liked it and not have to buy that one if I didn't. I tried the carob one and was so let down that it was not good, but luckily I could give it back. I was so disappointed cause it had a bad after tasted, but I'm sure the fruit ones would be great and I love their list of simple real food ingredients.<br />

Bars can be so expensive. I like to order Larabars by the case on amazon cause Jedi loves them! <br />

Can't believe Jedi is already one now! He is a blast with cruising around, clapping, and giving kisses. I made him a cake that wasn't going to give me a heart attack seeing him eat it. It's super easy and completely healthy, so good for him he got to eat cake all week.<br />
<br />
<u>Ingredients:</u><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>4 ripe bananas</li>
<li>3/4 cup organic no sugar applesauce</li>
<li>1 tsp baking soda</li>
<li>1.5 cups oat flour (I just took the Trader Joe's gluten free oat and put them in the vitamix (with the dry blades) and made my own flour) </li>
<li>3 tsp vanilla extract</li>
<li>1 tsp cinnamon</li>
<li>1/4 tsp nutmeg</li>
</ul>

<u>How To:</u><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Coat two 9'' pans with coconut oil or butter then sprinkle with oat flour </li>
<li>In a medium bowl mash bananas with a fork </li>
<li>Stir in applesauce & vanilla with the bananas</li>
<li>In a large bowl mix = oat flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg </li>
<li>Add the banana mixture to the oat flour mixture & mix</li>
<li>Pour batter into both pans and back at 400 degrees for 20 min</li>
<li>Cool the cake then cut into whatever shape you want (we used a cup and just cut out small circles and stacked them up) </li>

the sugar free dairy free frosting recipe was a nightmare and ended up throwing away my first batch that turned out brown and tasted bad :( Oh well. I then resorted to a much easier one I just made up.<br />

<li>Some cream cheese (needed to add to give it some more firmness to stick and stay) </li>

If you are looking for more whole food snacks I like to make grilled chicken to just grab and go or to throw on my salads. It makes getting some protein in and staying full longer much easier by making some during the week to last me a few days. I started adding my coconut water to my protein shakes and it tastes great plus I get all the added benefits. It sweetens it just enough without excess sugar from juice. It can be expensive, so I stock up when it is on sale. <br />

I DO NOT recommend wasting your money taking a vitamin C supplement that is isolated vitamin C.<br />

However, I highly recommend taking New Chapter Organics Activated C Food Complex. It works well because it is food based and has great things like tumeric, spinach, elderberry, shitake mushroom, ginger, etc in it. <br />

If you <span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: yellow;">workout</span>, I recommend taking this because it can <i>reduce the exercise-induced oxidative damage </i>and also <b>enhance the health-promoting effects of exercise</b>. <br />

One of my favorite things for breakfast is sauted kale with eggs.<br />
I use coconut oil in the pan, tear up some green kale, add in some chopped garlic, pink salt, and crushed red pepper. <br />

I remove the kale. I like to heat it on high so it gets a little crispy like chips. Then I cook the eggs and leave the yokes runny. </div>

I like to use soy free eggs. We got it from a friend and it is perfect for hiking, traveling, and Jedi loves being in there. I tried putting my juice straight from the juicer to the freezer and it was amazing.<br />
I've tried juicing for three days at a time and filling the jars to the top to keep from oxidizing as much, but this tasted WAY more fresh.<br />
<br />
<u>Tips:</u><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Use Glass jars </li>
<li>Make sure you leave room for expansion </li>
<li>Try a small amount of each one to test if it tastes good after being frozen. I guess some vegetables and fruits don't taste as good after being frozen. Might have to experiment here cause I'm not sure which ones yet.</li>
<li>Let it sit out for a few hours to defrost or slowly defrost in frig. </li>
<li>I also have 12 oz mason jars, which are my favorite size instead of this jumbo one. Less space taken up in the freezer and still room for expansion. I freeze about 8oz servings. </li>

I also did grapefruit and it was good.</div>

I froze grapefruit, orange, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry and ate it out of the mason jar with a spoon like sorbet and it was AMAZING. </div>
