Pack your Lunch to Avoid Packing on the Lbs

Packing your lunch and healthy snacks for the day, is an easy way to stay within your calorie range, keep your energy level up, and avoid high calorie, fat, and sugary foods.
Time Saving Tips
  • Make enough dinner so there are leftovers to pack for lunch the next day
  • Pack your lunch the night before, if you are pressed for time in the morning
  • Buy fruits and veggies already washed, cut, and prepackaged

Lunch Ideas

salad
I love to pack salads for lunch because they are easy to throw together. I love this salad with crisp romaine lettuce, corn, carrots, black beans, Greek yogurt, & baked tortilla crusted tilapia.
packed lunch
Wraps are great to pack when you don't have a lot of time for lunch. I love using the La Tortilla Factory Tortilla, low sodium turkey, Dijon mustard, lettuce, and either light laughing cow or 1/2 light string cheese. I just wrap it in foil and it is ready to go. These little bags of carrots from TJ are great to grab and go.
pita
Pita Alternatives are low in calories and easy to fill with salad, tuna, turkey, or peanut butter. I like to make a big salad and put some in the pita and have some on the side.
tuna & lettuce
Making wraps with lettuce is an easy way to get more vegetables in. I like to mix tuna with low fat cottage cheese, carrots, and celery then put it on large crisp lettuce leafs, roll, and enjoy. I also like to put the tuna on top of a brown rice cake, or crush up the rice cake and mix with the tuna.

  1. great lunch ideas! I always pack my lunch for the next day while making dinner. I eat better more delicious meals than my colleagues, and practically twice the volume for half the cals.

I buy my veggies and fruits on Monday and clean, prep, and portion them out right away.

  2. Hey Sabrina,

Jessica actually buys the tortilla encrusted tilapia in the freezer section of Costco. It is so delicious and good for you as well!:)

I do the same thing as you -- I love buying all of my fruits and veggies over the weekend and have them ready to go for salads, oatmeal, etc. Saves so much time!

  3. Really like this blog and all the information and healthy tip and menu ideas. What kind of sweeter do you recommend for coffee/tea? Love the picture of your fridge - would love to see mine look like that - what kind of containers are those. Thanks again!

  4. Hi Terry,

For coffee/tea, I recommend buying kinds that are great without any sweetener. I love high quality green tea with lemon/peach/lemongrass that gives it more flavor without adding anything. Chi tea and different flavors that are full of flavor. I also like the cinnamon spice Dunkin Donuts coffee, or having a flavored coffee, and I just drink it black. Although, I'm not a big fan of the fake sugar, I absolutely love black iced tea with sweet n low pink packets. If you need a sweetener I recommend Stevia and Agave Nectar for a healthy alternative. They are all natural and don't spike your blood sugar.
I use the pyrex glass containers, and just regular tupperware containers. I love the container store!
