The Midwest raining has stopped, but saw this on our way back home.
Still waiting for my new niece Allie to come out!
I just love this belly!
My brother Eric is on his way to Iraq again, so I love getting to spend time with him before he leaves. My sister Jenn and my brother Eric hanging out.

I am really enjoying your blog and especially love all of the pictures, calorie totals and kitchen utensil tips!!
ReplyDeleteI am curious to know - do you think someone who needed to lose 10-15 lbs could pretty much eat the things you eat and lose that weight or is your 'diet' mainly for someone on maintenance? Thanks! :)
I forgot to also ask - when you put a meal together, do you always try to make sure you have a vegetable, protein and a carb? I noticed you always eat veggies at every meal but I wasn't sure about the protein/carb mix. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHey Jess & Family! Can't wait to hear about baby Allie when she arrives. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Hayley,
ReplyDeleteIt depends on your physical activity and what you weigh.
I am 5'6" and I maintain my weight at 118-122 pounds. If I go over 122, then I get into the lose phase to get back down to my "happy" weight 118-120.
Currently, my boot camp classes are on a two week break until the next round starts on Monday. Therefore, I've had to cut back on my calories, since I'm not burning 800-1,000 a day like when I'm teaching.
I teach boot camp class twice a day and each class is 75 min. and Sat. class is 90 min. The class is cardio and strength training and an intense workout.
If you weight more than I do, and you eat what I do you will lose weight for sure. If you weight less than I do and you eat what I eat you will gain weight. Next week, I will post a great calculation to figure out how many calories you need to lose weight based on your height, weight, and physical activity.
Maybe I will start putting my total calories at the end of the day, so you will know it it meets your calorie range.
Hi Hayley,
ReplyDeleteI really try to always eat a lot of vegetables. If you are trying to lose weight or have a hard time keeping your calories down, filling up on vegetables are the way to go to get the nutrition your body needs and very little calories.
I do try to get a little protein in with each meal/snack because it makes the raw vegetables easier to digest.
Having a mixed meal of different food groups is really good because it keep you full longer, since it digests lower.
I count certain vegetables and fruit as my carb source, so I don't always have a grain for a carb.
I do always aim for a mixed meal though.
Thanks so much for your answers! What you say makes sense, and it would be great for you to post some ways to calculate how much your body needs.
ReplyDeleteI am 5'3" and weigh ~127 now, but my "happy" weight is more like 115. I exercise everyday of the week - sometimes 2x a day...I teach 3 Jazzercise classes a week, which burn lots of calories but more like 450 not 800-1000! :) I'd say on average I burn around 3000 cals a week.
Thanks again for your help! I get loads of great ideas from your blog!
