Divide Up the Plate

Visualize what a reasonable potion of food looks like by:
  • Draw an imaginary line through the middle of your plate
  • 1/2 of your plate should be filled with vegetables and fruits
  • Divide the other half into 2 equal parts
  • 1/4 section for protein
  • 1/4 section for whole grains
I recommend using an 8-9 inch plate to help get a healthy potion size, instead of the standard 11-12 inch plate.  Check out www.theportionplate.com for a plate to remind you at every meal what a normal potions should look like, or to just see a visual of what I'm describing.
